✧ I will certainly give the banner tomorrow to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger, and Allah and His Messenger love him, and Allah will grant victory through his hands. 'Umar said: 'I never desired leadership except on that day.' Then he called 'Ali and dispatched him, saying: 'Go and fight until Allah grants victory through your hands, and do not turn back.' He walked for a while, then stopped without turning back, and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, on what basis should I fight?' He said: 'Fight them until they say: There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. When they do that, they protect their blood and their property from you except by its right, and their reckoning is with Allah.'
