✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ delayed the last evening prayer one night until a third of the night had passed or nearly so. Then he came out to us while the people were in separate groups, and he became intensely angry. Then he said: If a man were to invite the people to a fatty bone and two small arrows, they would respond, and yet they hear the call. I was on the verge of ordering men to carry bundles of firewood, then going to people who do not attend the prayer and setting their homes ablaze. Then Ibn Umm Maktum, the blind man, came to him and said: O Messenger of God, I am a blind man with a distant home, and I have no guide to lead me, so do you find any concession for me? He said: Does the call reach you? He said: Yes. He said: I find no concession for you.
