✧ What 'Abd al-Rahman al-A'raj narrated from Abu Hurayrah

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي مَا تَخَلَّفْتُ خَلْفَ سَرِيَّةٍ تَخْرُجُ، وَلَكِنْ لَا أَجِدُ مَا أَحْمِلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ مَا يَتَحَمَّلُونَ بِهِ، وَيَشُقُّ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَتَخَلَّفُوا عَنِّي، وَلَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي قُتِلْتُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ثُمَّ أُحْيِيتُ ثُمَّ قُتِلْتُ ثُمَّ أُحْيِيتُ

✧ Were it not that I would make things difficult for my Ummah, I would not stay behind any expedition that goes out, but I do not find that which I can mount them upon, nor do they find that which they can ride, and it is difficult for them to stay behind from me. I would love that I be killed in the path of Allah, then brought to life, then killed, then brought to life.
