✧ What Muhammad b. Abi Bakr narrated from his father Abu Bakr

حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمَدَنِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَكِيمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:

لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ بُكِيَ عَلَيْهِ فَخَرَجَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أَعْتَذِرُ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْ شَأْنِ أُولَاءِ إِنَّهُنَّ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ، إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: الْمَيِّتُ يُنْضَحُ عَلَيْهِ الْحَمِيمُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ

✧ When Abdullah b. Abi Bakr died, he was wept over. Abu Bakr came out and said: I apologize to you for the affair of these women; they are recently from ignorance. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The dead person is scalded with boiling water because of the weeping of the living.
