حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: نَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْعَطَّارُ، قَالَ: نَا الْمُخْتَارُ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ التَّيْمِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ:

دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي عُصْبَةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَقُلْتُ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَقَالَ: وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ عِشْرُونَ لِي وَعَشْرٌ لَكَ، قَالَ: فَدَخَلْتُ الثَّانِيَةَ فَقُلْتُ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ فَقَالَ: وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ ثَلَاثُونَ لِي وَعِشْرُونَ لَكَ، فَدَخَلْتُ الثَّالِثَةَ فَقُلْتُ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ فَقَالَ: وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ وَرَحِمَهُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ ثَلَاثُونَ لِي وَثَلَاثُونَ لَكَ، أَنَا وَأَنْتَ يَا عَلِيُّ فِي السَّلَامِ سَوَاءٌ، إِنَّهُ يَا عَلِيُّ مَنْ مَرَّ عَلَى مَجْلِسٍ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ كَتَبَ اللهُ لَهُ عَشْرَ حَسَنَاتٍ، وَمَحَا عَنْهُ عَشْرَ سَيِّئَاتٍ وَرَفَعَ لَهُ عَشْرَ دَرَجَاتٍ

Translation

✧ I entered the mosque and found the Prophet ﷺ among a group of his companions. I said: 'Peace be upon you.' He replied: 'And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah: twenty (good deeds) for me and ten for you.' He said: Then I entered a second time and said: 'Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.' He replied: 'And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah and His blessings: thirty for me and twenty for you.' Then I entered a third time and said: 'Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.' He replied: 'And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah and His blessings: thirty for me and thirty for you. You and I, O Ali, are equal in the greeting. O Ali, whoever passes by a gathering and greets them, Allah records ten good deeds for him, erases ten bad deeds, and raises him ten degrees.'
