حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الْقُرَشِيُّ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ، وَلَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:
أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِسَارِقٍ فَقَالُوا: سَرَقَ قَالَ: مَا أَخَالُهُ سَرَقَ قَالَ: بَلَى قَدْ فَعَلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ: اذْهَبُوا بِهِ فَاقْطَعُوهُ ثُمَّ احْسِمُوهُ ثُمَّ ائْتُونِي بِهِ فَذُهِبَ بِهِ فَقُطِعَ ثُمَّ حُسِمَ ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: تُبْ إِلَى اللهِ قَالَ: تُبْتُ إِلَى اللهِ قَالَ: تَابَ اللهُ عَلَيْكَ، أَوْ قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ تُبْ عَلَيْهِ

✧ A thief was brought to the Prophet ﷺ, and they said, "He has stolen." He said, "I do not think he has stolen." He said, "Yes, I did it, O Messenger of God." He said, "Take him and cut off his hand, then cauterize it, then bring him to me." So he was taken, his hand was cut, then it was cauterized, then he was brought to the Prophet ﷺ. He said, "Repent to God." He said, "I repent to God." He said, "May God accept your repentance," or he said, "O God, accept his repentance."
