حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ، قَالَا: نَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ خَيْرٍ قَالَ:

رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى النَّعْلَيْنِ وَقَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَلَ كَمَا رَأَيْتُمُونِي لَرَأَيْتُ بَاطِنَ الْقَدَمَيْنِ أَحَقَّ بِالْمَسْحِ مِنْ ظَاهِرِهِمَا

✧ I saw Ali perform ablution and wipe over the sandals, and he said: 'Had I not seen the Messenger of God ﷺ do as you have seen me do, I would have considered the soles of the feet more deserving of wiping than their tops.'
