حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ، قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلَالٍ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ:
لَأُعْطِيَنَّ الرَّايَةَ غَدًا رَجُلًا يُحِبُّ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيُحِبُّهُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، فَدَخَلَ عَلِيٌّ، وَهُوَ أَرْمَدُ فَبَصَقَ فِي عَيْنِهِ، ثُمَّ أَعْطَاهُ، يَعْنِي: الرَّايَةَ، فَفَتَحَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ

✧ I will certainly give the banner tomorrow to a man who loves God and His Messenger, and whom God and His Messenger love. Then Ali entered while he had sore eyes, so he spat in his eye, then gave him the banner, and God granted victory through him.
