✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ بَحْرٍ، قَالَ: نَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

تَوَضَّئُوا مِمَّا غَيَّرَتِ النَّارُ، وَلَوْ مِنْ أَثْوَارِ أَقِطٍ. فَقَالَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ: أَلَيْسَ يَدَّهِنُ أَحَدُنَا بِالْبَانِ ؟ قَالَ: يَا بُنَيَّ إِذَا جَاءَ الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَا تَضْرِبْ لَهُ الْأَمْثَالَ

Translation

✧ Perform wudu' from what the fire has changed, even if it is from the residue of aqit (dried curd). Abu Salamah said: Does not one of us anoint himself with milk? He said: O my son, when the hadith comes from the Messenger of God ﷺ, do not strike examples for it.
