✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: نَا عَمْرُو بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

تُسْتَأْمَرُ الْيَتِيمَةُ فِي نَفْسِهَا، فَإِنْ سَكَتَتْ فَهُوَ إِذْنُهَا، وَإِنْ أَبَتْ فَلَا جَوَازَ عَلَيْهَا

Translation

✧ The orphan girl is to be consulted regarding herself; if she remains silent, that is her permission, and if she refuses, then there is no compulsion upon her.
