✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: نَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:
نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْوِصَالِ. قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ ! قَالَ: إِنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ كَهَيْئَتِي، إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي، وَلَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا قَالَ: فَاكْلَفُوا مِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تُطِيقُونَ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade continuous fasting. They said: O Messenger of Allah, you fast continuously! He said: You are not like me. I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and gives me drink. And I do not know except that he said: So undertake of deeds what you are able.
