✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ: نَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
يُؤْتَى بِالْمَوْتِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ - قَالَ يَزِيدُ أَظُنُّهُ - فِي هَيْئَةِ كَبْشٍ أَمْلَحَ فَيُقَالُ: يَا أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ ! فَيَتَطَلَّعُونَ خَائِفِينَ وَجِلِينَ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَخْرُجُوا مِمَّا هُمْ فِيهِ، فَيُقَالُ: أَتَعْرِفُونَ هَذَا ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ: رَبَّنَا، هَذَا الْمَوْتُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَا أَهْلَ النَّارِ ! فَيَتَطَلَّعُونَ فَرِحِينَ مُسْتَبْشِرِينَ أَنْ يَخْرُجُوا مِمَّا هُمْ فِيهِ، فَيَقُولُ: هَلْ تَعْرِفُونَ هَذَا ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ: نَعَمْ، هَذَا الْمَوْتُ، فَيُؤْمَرُ بِهِ فَيُذْبَحُ، فَيُقَالُ لِلْفَرِيقَيْنِ: خُلُودًا، لَا مَوْتَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا
Translation

✧ Death will be brought on the Day of Resurrection – I think Yazid said – in the form of a salt-and-pepper ram, and it will be said, “O people of Paradise!” They will look up, fearful and anxious, afraid that they will leave what they are in. Then it will be said, “Do you recognize this?” They will say, “Our Lord, this is death.” Then He will say, “O people of the Fire!” They will look up, rejoicing and glad, hoping to leave what they are in. Then He will say, “Do you recognize this?” They will say, “Yes, this is death.” Then it will be ordered to be slaughtered, and it will be said to the two groups, “Eternity, and no death therein ever.”
