✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ
مَرَّتْ عَلَيْهِ جِنَازَةٌ، فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا خَيْرًا مِنْ مَنَاقِبِ الْخَيْرِ. فَقَالَ: وَجَبَتْ، ثُمَّ مَرَّتْ عَلَيْهِ بِأُخْرَى فَأَثْنَوْا عَلَيْهَا شَرًّا فِي مَنَاقِبِ الشَّرِّ، فَقَالَ: وَجَبَتْ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّكُمْ شُهُودُ اللهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ
Translation

✧ A funeral procession passed by him, and they praised it with good, mentioning the virtues of good. He said: It is affirmed. Then another passed by him, and they criticized it with evil, mentioning the faults of evil. He said: It is affirmed. Then he said: You are Allah's witnesses on earth.
