✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ: نَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ جُوَيْرِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي رَجُلٌ شَابٌّ، وَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَى نَفْسِي الْعَنَتَ، وَلَسْتُ أَجِدُ طَوْلًا أَنْ أَتَزَوَّجَ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ، فَتَأْمُرُنِي أَنْ أَخْتَصِيَ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَضَى الْقَلَمُ عَلَى الِائْتِلَافِ، اخْتَصِ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَوْ دَعْ

Translation

✧ I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: O Messenger of God, I am a young man, and I fear hardship for myself, and I do not find the means to marry women. Do you command me to castrate myself? The Messenger of God ﷺ said: The pen has already run concerning being brought together. Castrate if you wish, or leave it.
