✧ What Sa'id b. al-Musayyib narrated from Abu Hurayra

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، قَالَ: نَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ:

لَيْسِ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ، وَلَا الْأُكْلَةُ وَلَا الْأَكْلَتَانِ، قَالُوا: فَمَا الْمِسْكِينُ ؟ قَالَ: الَّذِي لَا يَجِدُ غِنًى وَلَا يُعْلَمُ بِمَكَانِهِ فَيُتَصَدَّقُ عَلَيْهِ

✧ The poor person is not the one who is turned away by a date or two dates, nor by a morsel or two morsels. They asked, 'Then who is the poor person?' He said, 'The one who finds no sufficiency, and whose situation is not known so that charity may be given to him.'
