حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، نَا سَالِمُ بْنُ نُوحٍ، نَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ;

✧ Ukaidir of Dumat al-Jandal sent to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a robe of fine silk, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wore it, and the people marveled at it. He said: Do you marvel at this? By the One in Whose hand is my soul, the handkerchiefs of Sa'd b. Mu'adh in Paradise are better than it. Then he gave it as a gift to Umar, who said: O Messenger of Allah, you dislike it and I should wear it? He said: O Umar, I only sent it to you so that you could send it somewhere and get some money for it. He said: That was before silk was forbidden.
