✧ Three men from among those who passed before, went out one day seeking provision for their families, but rain overtook them, so they entered a cave. Then a rock fell and blocked the entrance, so that they could not see any opening. They said to one another: "The rock has fallen and the trace is hidden, and no one knows your place except Allah. So call upon Allah with the most trustworthy of your deeds." One of them said: "O Allah, if You know that I had two parents, and I used to milk for them into their vessels, and I would come to them, and if I found them sleeping, I would stand at their heads until they woke up. O Allah, if You know that I did that hoping for Your mercy and fearing Your punishment, then open a way for us." He said: So a third of the rock moved. The second said: "O Allah, if You know that a woman pleased me, and I gave her a payment, but when I was able to have her, I gave her the payment and she kept herself away. O Allah, if You know that I did that hoping for Your mercy and fearing Your punishment, then open a way for us." He said: So two-thirds of the rock moved. The third said: "O Allah, if You know that I hired a worker for a job, and he came to me asking for his wage while I was angry, and I refused him, so he left and left his wage. Then I took his wage and gathered it and invested it until it became all this wealth. O Allah, if You know that I did that hoping for Your mercy and fearing Your punishment, then open a way for us" - or "relieve us" - he said: So the rock moved away, and they went out walking.
