✧ Allah sent Yahya b. Zakariyya to the Children of Israel with five words. When He sent 'Isa, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, said: O 'Isa, say to Yahya b. Zakariyya: Either you convey what you have been sent with to the Children of Israel, or I will convey it to them. So Yahya went out until he came to the Children of Israel. He said: Allah commands you to worship Him and not associate anything with Him. The likeness of that is like a man who freed another man, treated him well and gave him, then he went away and disbelieved in the patron of his blessings and befriended others. Allah commands you to establish prayer. The likeness of that is like a man whom the enemy captured and wanted to kill. He said: Do not kill me, for I have a treasure, and I will ransom myself. So he gave them his treasure, and he saved himself. Allah, Blessed and Exalted, commands you to give charity. The likeness of that is like a man who walked towards his enemy, having taken a shield for fighting, so he does not care from where he is attacked. Allah commands you to recite the Book. The likeness of that is like a people in their fortress; their enemy came to them, and they had placed people in every corner of the fortress. Their enemy does not come to them from any direction except that there are those before them who repel them from the fortress. That is the likeness of the one who recites the Qur'an; he does not cease to be in the most fortified fortress or in a strong fortress.
