وَبِهِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:
لَمَّا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى الرُّومِ قَالُوا: إِنَّهُمْ لَا يَقْرَءُونَ كِتَابًا إِلَّا مَخْتُومًا، فَاتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَيَاضِهِ فِي يَدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، نَقْشُهُ: مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ
Translation

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ wanted to write to the Byzantines, they said, 'They do not read a letter unless it is sealed.' So the Messenger of God ﷺ acquired a silver ring; it is as if I can see its whiteness in the hand of the Messenger of God ﷺ, with the inscription: 'Muhammad, Messenger of God.'
