حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، نَا سَالِمُ بْنُ نُوحٍ، نَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ;

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon a man to visit him, and he was like a hāmah (i.e., extremely weak). He said to him: Did you ask your Lord for anything? He said: Yes, I said: O Allah, whatever you were going to punish me with in the Hereafter, hasten it for me in this world. He said: Glory be to Allah! Why did you not say: O Allah, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. The man said it and was healed.
