✧ The Prophet ﷺ entered upon a man who had become like a fledgling, meaning from the severity of pain. The Prophet ﷺ asked him: 'Did you used to supplicate your Lord for anything?' He said: 'I used to say: O God, whatever punishment You would inflict upon me in the Hereafter, hasten it for me in this world.' He said: 'Why did you not say—or why do you not say—: O God, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us—or protect me—from the punishment of the Fire?' He said: The man said it, and he recovered.
