✧ I was standing over the neighborhood watering them — and I was the youngest of them in age — from a fadikh (beverage made from unripe and ripe dates) of theirs. He said: Then a man came and said: 'Wine has been forbidden.' They said: 'Spill it, O Anas.' I said to Anas: 'What was their drink?' He said: 'Fresh ripe dates and unripe dates.' Abu Bakr b. Anas said: 'Anas was present, and that was their wine at that time, and Anas did not deny that.'
