✧ The Basrans from Anas

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ، نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَوْمٌ يُبَايِعُونَهُ، وَفِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ فِي يَدِهِ أَثَرُ خَلُوقٍ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُبَايِعُهُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرُهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّ طِيبَ الرِّجَالِ مَا ظَهَرَ رِيحُهُ وَخَفِيَ لَوْنُهُ، وَطِيبَ النِّسَاءِ مَا ظَهَرَ لَوْنُهُ وَخَفِيَ رِيحُهُ.

✧ A people came to the Prophet ﷺ to pledge allegiance to him, and among them was a man with a trace of khaluq on his hand. He continued to accept their pledge and delayed him, then said: The perfume of men is that whose scent is apparent and its color is hidden, and the perfume of women is that whose color is apparent and its scent is hidden.
