حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، نَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ;

أَنَّ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ أَتَى أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ يَخْطُبُهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: أَتَزَوَّجُ بِكَ وَأَنْتَ تَعْبُدُ خَشَبَةً نَجَرَهَا عَبْدِي فُلَانٌ ؟ إِنْ أَسْلَمْتَ تَزَوَّجْتُ بِكَ، قَالَ: فَأَسْلَمَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ فَتَزَوَّجَهَا عَلَى إِسْلَامِهِ

✧ Abu Talhah came to Umm Sulaym to propose to her before he became Muslim. She said to him: Should I marry you while you worship a piece of wood carved by my servant so-and-so? If you become Muslim, I will marry you. He said: Then Abu Talhah became Muslim and married her upon his Islam.
