وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ ; قَالَ:
مُرَّ بِجِنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا خَيْرٌ، فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ: وَجَبَتْ وَجَبَتْ وَجَبَتْ، وَمُرَّ بِجِنَازَةٍ، فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا شَرٌّ، فَقَالَ ﷺ: وَجَبَتْ وَجَبَتْ وَجَبَتْ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: فِدَاكَ أَبِي وَأُمِّي، مُرَّ بِجِنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا خَيْرٌ، فَقُلْتَ: وَجَبَتْ، وَمُرَّ بِجِنَازَةٍ فَأُثْنِيَ عَلَيْهَا شَرٌّ فَقُلْتَ: وَجَبَتْ ؟ فَقَالَ: مَنْ أَثْنَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ خَيْرًا وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ، وَمَنْ أَثْنَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ شَرًّا وَجَبَتْ لَهُ النَّارُ. لَأَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ
Translation

✧ A funeral procession passed and good was said of the deceased. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said: It is due, it is due, it is due. Another funeral procession passed and evil was said of the deceased, and he ﷺ said: It is due, it is due, it is due. Umar said: May my father and mother be your ransom. A funeral passed and good was said, and you said: It is due. A funeral passed and evil was said, and you said: It is due? He said: The one of whom you spoke good, Paradise is due for him, and the one of whom you spoke evil, the Fire is due for him. You are Allah's witnesses on earth.
