حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، نَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ:

الْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى، الْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا الْمُعْطِيَةُ، وَالْيَدُ السُّفْلَى السَّائِلَةُ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Muʾammal b. Hishām
  2. Ismāʿīl b. Ibrāhīm
  3. Ayyūb
  4. Nāfiʿ
  5. Ibn ʿUmar
  6. al-Nabī ﷺ

✧ The upper hand is better than the lower hand. The upper hand is the giving one, and the lower hand is the asking one.
