نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، نَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ:

سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ، قَالَ: يُصَلِّي أَحَدُكُمْ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا خَشِيَ الصُّبْحَ صَلَّى رَكْعَةً تُوتِرُ لَهُ صَلَاتَهُ

Translation

✧ A man asked the Prophet ﷺ about the night prayer. He said: 'Each of you should pray two by two, and if he fears the dawn, he should pray one rak'ah, which will make his prayer odd-numbered (witr).'
