حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، قَالَ: نَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّهُ مَرَّ عَلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَهُوَ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَقَالَ: أَتَدْرِي مِمَّا تَوَضَّأْتُ ؟ تَوَضَّأْتُ مِنْ أَثْوَارٍ أَقِطٍ أَكَلْتُهَا إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: تَوَضَّئُوا مِمَّا مَسَّتِ النَّارُ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَكَلَ خُبْزًا وَلَحْمًا وَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ

Translation

✧ He passed by Abū Hurayrah while he was performing ablution and said: 'Do you know from what I am performing ablution? I am performing ablution from eating curds of dried milk. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Perform ablution from what the fire has touched.' Ibn ʿAbbās said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eat bread and meat and then pray without performing ablution.'
