✧ What Abu Juhaifa narrated on the authority of Ali

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: نَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَلِيٌّ:
إِذَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حَدِيثًا فَلَأَنْ أَخِرَّ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَقُولَ مَا لَمْ يَقُلْ، فَإِذَا لَمْ أَقُلْ لَكُمْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِنِّي مُحَارِبٌ، وَالْحَرْبُ خَدْعَةٌ

✧ When I narrate to you a hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, falling from the sky is dearer to me than saying what he did not say. So if I do not say to you: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,' then I am at war, and war is deception.
