✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ gave us our portion from Khaybar, and Abu Bakr gave it to us. When 'Umar came and the people became numerous on him, he sent to us and said: The people have become numerous on me, so if you wish I will give you wealth in place of your portion from Khaybar? Some of us looked at one another and we said: Yes. Then 'Umar was stabbed, and we did not take anything. Then 'Uthmān took it and refused to give it to us, saying: 'Umar had taken it from you.
