حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ:

لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْخَمِيسِ وَمَا يَوْمُ الْخَمِيسِ ثُمَّ بَكَى ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فِي مَرَضِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الَّذِي قُبِضَ فِيهِ قَالَ: ائْتُونِي بِصَحِيفَةٍ وَدَوَاةٍ حَتَّى أَكْتُبَ لَكُمْ كِتَابًا لَا تَضِلُّوا بَعْدَهُ أَبَدًا

✧ When it was Thursday—and what a Thursday it was—then Ibn ʿAbbās wept during the illness of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in which he passed away. He said: Bring me a sheet and an inkpot so that I may write for you a document after which you will never go astray.
