✧ What Anas b. Malik narrated from Abu Bakr

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَا: نَا حِبَّانُ، وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا: نَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ؓ حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ:

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَنَحْنُ فِي الْغَارِ: لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا اطَّلَعَ لَرَآنَا، فَقَالَ: مَا ظَنُّكَ بِاثْنَيْنِ اللهُ ثَالِثُهُمَا ؟ وَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا فِي حَدِيثِهِ: لَوْ أَنَّ أَحَدَهُمْ نَظَرَ مَوْضِعَ قَدَمِهِ لَأَبْصَرَنَا، فَقَالَ: " مَا ظَنُّكَ بِاثْنَيْنِ اللهُ ثَالِثُهُمَا

Translation

✧ I said while we were in the cave: O Messenger of Allah, if a man were to look down he would see us. He said: "What do you think of two when Allah is their third?" And one of them said in his hadith: If one of them were to look at the place of his foot, he would see us. So he said: "What do you think of two when Allah is their third?"
