✧ The first hadith of Abu Musa

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ؓ قَالَ:
أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَمَعِي رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْأَشْعَرِيِّينَ، فَسَأَلَاهُ الْعَمَلَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ - عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ -: إِنَّا لَا نَسْتَعْمِلُ عَلَى عَمَلِنَا مَنْ حَرَصَ عَلَيْهِ أَوْ مَنْ طَلَبَهُ.

✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ accompanied by two men from the Ash'aris, and they asked him for an appointment. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'We do not appoint to our work anyone who is eager for it or who seeks it.'
