✧ The first hadith of Abu Musa

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ؓ قَالَ:

بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَمُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ فَقَالَ: بَشِّرَا وَلَا تُنَفِّرَا، وَيَسِّرَا وَلَا تُعَسِّرَا فَقَالَ مُعَاذٌ: إِنَّكَ تَبْعَثُنَا إِلَى أَرْضٍ كَثِيرَةِ الْأَشْرِبَةِ، فَمَا نَشْرَبُ ؟ قَالَ: " اشْرَبُوا وَلَا تَشْرَبُوا مُسْكِرًا ".

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me and Mu'adh b. Jabal to Yemen and said: Give glad tidings and do not drive people away; make things easy and do not make them difficult. Mu'adh said: You are sending us to a land of many beverages, so what should we drink? He said: Drink, but do not drink any intoxicant.
