✧ I went out to Kufa at the time Tustar was conquered to buy mules from there. I entered the mosque and there was a group of men, whom if you saw them you would know they were from the men of the Hijaz. Among them was a man. I said, "Who is this?" The people indicated to me with their eyes and said, "Do you not know him? This is Hudhayfa, the companion of the Messenger of God ﷺ." He said, "People used to ask the Messenger of God ﷺ about good, but I used to ask him about evil. I said, 'O Messenger of God, do you think this good that God has given us will be followed by evil as there was before it?' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'O Messenger of God, what is the protection from that?' He said, 'The sword.' I said, 'Is there any remainder for the sword?' He said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Then what?' He said, 'A truce upon corruption, and a community upon division. If God, Blessed and Exalted, has a caliph on that day, he will strike your back and take your wealth, so listen and obey; otherwise die while biting onto the trunk of a tree.' He said, 'Then what?' He said, 'Then the Dajjal will emerge with him a river and a fire. Whoever falls into his fire, his reward becomes obligatory and his burden is lifted; whoever falls into his river, his burden becomes obligatory and his reward is lifted.' He said, 'Then what?' He said, 'Then it is the establishment of the Hour.'"
