حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ الضَّيْفِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ يُثَيْعٍ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ؓ قَالَ:

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ: لَوْ رَأَيْتَ مَعَ أُمِّ رُومَانَ رَجُلًا مَا كُنْتَ فَاعِلًا بِهِ ؟ " قَالَ: كُنْتُ وَاللهِ فَاعِلًا بِهِ شَرًّا، قَالَ: " فَأَنْتَ يَا عُمَرُ " قَالَ: كُنْتُ وَاللهِ قَاتِلَهُ، كُنْتُ أَقُولُ لَعَنَ اللهُ الْأَعْجَزَ فَإِنَّهُ خَبِيثٌ، قَالَ: " فَنَزَلَتْ وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ أَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُمْ شُهَدَاءُ إِلا أَنْفُسُهُمْ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Abu Bakr: 'If you saw a man with Umm Ruman, what would you do to him?' He said: 'By Allah, I would do evil to him.' He said: 'And you, Umar?' He said: 'By Allah, I would kill him. I would say: May Allah curse the most helpless, for he is wicked.' He said: 'Then the verse was revealed: And those who accuse their wives and have no witnesses except themselves...'
