machine translationAl-Dāraquṭnī narrated it, then al-Bayhaqī likewise, and both graded it weak (ḍaʿīf) because of Kaysān Abū ʿUmar al-Qaṣṣār, its narrator from ʿAmr b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān from Khabbāb. They said that he is not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī). Yaḥyā said: his hadith is weak. Al-Sājī also graded him weak in his book. And they narrated it from ʿAlī as a statement of the Companion (mawqūf) likewise, and in its chain is the aforementioned Kaysān, from Yazīd b. Bilāl, from ʿAlī. Al-Dāraquṭnī said: Kaysān is not strong, and the one between him and ʿAlī is unknown, meaning Yazīd b. Bilāl. Al-Azdī and Ibn Ḥibbān declared him very weak, and both said that he is one whose hadith is rejected (munkar al-ḥadīth). Ibn Ḥibbān said: He narrates from ʿAlī what does not resemble his hadith; it is not permissible to use him as evidence when he is alone, but if someone takes him into consideration where he agrees with the trustworthy narrators, without using him as evidence, I see no harm in it.
