✧ The sun eclipsed during the time of 'Uthman, so he prayed two rak'ahs and two prostrations with the people, in each rak'ah. Then 'Uthman departed and entered his house, and Ibn Mas'ud sat by the chamber of 'A'ishah, and we sat with him. He said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command us to pray when the sun or moon eclipsed, and he said: "If you see that it has been afflicted" – I think he said – "then hasten to prayer, for if it is what you fear, otherwise you will have attained good or earned it."'
