✧ What Muhammad b. Abi Bakr narrated from his father Abu Bakr

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَانِي قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ عَبْدُ الْقُدُّوسِ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَوْسَطَ الْبَجَلِيِّ. (م) - ( ح ) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ ( 1 / 18 / 2 ): نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: نَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ أَوْسَطَ الْبَجَلِيِّ

أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ ؓ قَامَ فِي النَّاسِ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَلَا إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ فِينَا عَامَ أَوَّلَ - فَاسْتَعْبَرَ وَبَكَى، ثُمَّ قَعَدَ - ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ قَامَ أَيْضًا فَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ فِينَا عَامَ أَوَّلَ فَقَالَ: عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّهُ مِنَ الْبِرِّ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّهُ مِنَ الْفُجُورِ، وَلَا تَبَاغَضُوا، وَلَا تَدَابَرُوا، وَلَا تَقَاطَعُوا وَكُونُوا إِخْوَانًا كَمَا أَمَرَكُمُ اللهُ، وَسَلُوا اللهَ الْعَافِيَةَ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُعْطَى عَبْدٌ خَيْرًا مِنْ مُعَافَاةٍ بَعْدَ يَقِينٍ

✧ Abu Bakr al-Siddiq ؓ stood among the people, praised God and extolled Him, then said: "Indeed, the Messenger of God ﷺ stood before us last year" — he was moved and wept, then sat down — then he stood again and said: "Indeed, the Messenger of God ﷺ stood before us last year and said: 'Adhere to truthfulness, for it is part of righteousness, and beware of lying, for it is part of wickedness. Do not hate one another, do not turn your backs on one another, do not sever ties, and be brothers as God has commanded you. Ask God for well-being, for no servant is given anything better than well-being after certainty.'"
