✧ What Ibrahim b. Abd al-Rahman b. Awf narrated from his father

وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ: نَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ سِقْلَابٍ قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَوْنٍ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ:

قَالَ لِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ: يَا عَبْدَ الْإِلَهِ مَنِ الرَّجُلُ الْمُعَلَّمُ بِرِيشَةِ نَعَامَةٍ فِي صَدْرِهِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ؟ قُلْتُ: ذَلِكَ عَمُّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَلِكَ حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالَ: ذَاكَ الَّذِي فَعَلَ بِنَا الْأَفَاعِيلَ

✧ Umayyah b. Khalaf said to me, “O servant of God, who was the man marked with an ostrich feather on his chest on the day of Badr?” I said, “That was the uncle of the Messenger of God ﷺ, Ḥamzah b. ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib.” He said, “That is the one who did those deeds to us.”
