وَحَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: نَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ:

أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَدْنَاهُ وَقَرَّبَهُ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَلَيْسَ هَذَا فُلَانٌ الَّذِي كُنْتَ تَذْكُرُ مِنْهُ شَرًّا ؟ قَالَ: بَلَى ". قُلْتُ: إِنَّكَ دَارَيْتَهُ - أَوْ أَدْنَيْتَهُ - وَقَرَّبْتَ مَقْعَدَهُ، قَالَ: إِنَّ شِرَارَ النَّاسِ الَّذِينَ يُكْرَمُونَ اتِّقَاءَ شَرِّهِمْ

Translation

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and he brought him near and seated him close. When he left, I said: "O Messenger of Allah, is this not so-and-so whom you used to mention with evil?" He said: "Yes." I said: "You flattered him—or brought him near—and seated him close." He said: "The worst of people are those who are honored to avoid their evil."
