✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded that those killed in battle be dragged to the pit and thrown into it — except for Umayya b. Khalaf, whose body swelled and filled his armor. They tried to pull him out, but he disintegrated, so they left him and threw earth and stones over him. When they were thrown into the pit, the Messenger of Allah stood over them and said, 'O people of the pit, have you found what your Lord promised you to be true? For I have found what my Lord promised me to be true.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, do you speak to people who are dead?' He said, 'They have come to know that what I promised them is true.' ʿĀʾisha said, 'People say, "They have heard what you said," but it is only, "They have come to know."'
