قَالَ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي كِتَابِ التَّارِيخِ: قَالَ لِي أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ: ثَنَا مَرْوَانُ، ثَنَا هِلَالُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَافِعَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْمُزَنِيَّ يَقُولُ:
رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ شَهْبَاءَ.
