I said to Nāfiʿ: "Was there any saying that ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar used to hold to constantly?" He said: "Do not ask about that, for it is not obligatory." But I refused to leave it until he told me. He said: "He would prolong the standing, so much so that, were it not for shyness before him, we would have sat down. He would say the takbīr three times, then say: 'There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner; to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He has power over all things.' Then he would supplicate at length, raising his voice and lowering it, so much so that he would ask Him to settle his debt for him among what he asked. Then he would say the takbīr three times, then say: 'There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner; to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He has power over all things.' Then he would ask at length in the same way, until he had done that seven times. He would say that on al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah, on every Hajj and ʿUmrah he performed."
