I performed Hajj with my master, and I went in to Umm Salamah (may God be pleased with her) and said: "May I perform ʿUmrah before I perform Hajj?" She said: "If you wish, perform ʿUmrah before you perform Hajj, and if you wish, after you perform Hajj." I said: "They say that whoever has not yet performed Hajj (ṣarūrah) should not perform ʿUmrah before he performs Hajj." So I asked the Mothers of the Believers, and they said the same as she had said. Then I returned to her and told her, and she said: "Yes, and I will satisfy you: I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: 'O family of Muhammad, enter into iḥrām for ʿUmrah within Hajj.'"
