( أَخْبَرَنَا ) أَبُو الْحَسَنِ: عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الرَّزَّازُ بِبَغْدَادَ، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الشَّافِعِيُّ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْجَهْمِ السِّمَّرِيُّ، ثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ:
بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ بِمِثْلِ الْبَيْضَةِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ أَصَابَهَا فِي بَعْضِ الْمَغَازِي، أَوْ قَالَ: الْمَعَادِنِ، فَجَاءَ بِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ رُكْنِهِ الْأَيْمَنِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، خُذْهَا مِنِّي صَدَقَةً، وَاللهِ مَا لِي مَالٌ غَيْرَهَا، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ بِهَا عَنْ رُكْنِهِ الْأَيْسَرِ، فَقَالَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ بِهَا مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ، فَقَالَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: " هَاتِهَا ". فَحَذَفَهُ حَذْفَةً لَوْ أَصَابَتْهُ لَأَوْجَعَتْهُ أَوْ عَقَرَتْهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَعْمِدُ أَحَدُكُمْ فَيَأْتِي بِمَالِهِ فَيَتَصَدَّقُ بِهِ، ثُمَّ يَقْعُدُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ يَتَكَفَّفُ النَّاسَ، إِنَّمَا الصَّدَقَةُ عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى، خُذِ الَّذِي لَكَ لَا حَاجَةَ لَنَا بِهِ ". فَأَخَذَ الرَّجُلُ مَالَهُ وَذَهَبَ

Then the man came with it from his left side and said the same. Then he came with it from in front of him and said the same. He said: "Give it here." Then he threw it at him with a throw which, had it struck him, would have hurt him or wounded him. Then he said: "One of you sets out, brings all his wealth and gives it in charity, and then sits down afterwards begging from people. Charity is only from surplus wealth. Take what is yours; we have no need of it." So the man took his wealth and went away.
