That Anas b. Mālik came from Iraq, and Abū Ṭalḥah and Ubayy b. Kaʿb visited him. He served them food that fire had touched, and they ate from it. Then Anas got up and performed ablution. Abū Ṭalḥah and Ubayy b. Kaʿb said to him: "What is this, Anas? Is it an Iraqi practice?" Anas said: "I wish I had not done it." Then Abū Ṭalḥah and Ubayy b. Kaʿb got up and prayed, and they did not perform ablution.

- Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationHe said in it: "and Abū Ayyūb", but what is preserved (maḥfūẓ) from the narration of the trustworthy (thiqāt) narrators is "and Ubayy b. Kaʿb", as Mālik and al-Awzāʿī said. I think the error (wahm) in it is from Yaḥyā b. Ayyūb or from Ismāʿīl b. Rāfiʿ, and Allah knows best.
