When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Medina, Abū Bakr and Bilāl (may Allah be pleased with them) fell ill with fever. She said: So I entered upon them and said: "O my father, how do you find yourself?" And I said to Bilāl: "How do you find yourself?" She said: When fever seized Abū Bakr, he would say: "Every man is greeted in the morning among his family, while death is nearer to him than the strap of his sandal." And when the fever left Bilāl, he would say: "Would that I knew whether I shall spend a night in a valley with idhkhir and jalīl grass around me, and whether I shall one day go down to the waters of Majannah, and whether Shāmah and Ṭafīl will appear to me." ʿĀʾishah said: Then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him, and he said: "O Allah, make Medina beloved to us as we love Mecca, or even more, make it healthy, bless us in its ṣāʿ and its mudd, and transfer its fever and put it in al-Juḥfah."
