That he attended the prayer with the Prophet ﷺ on the day of an Eid. He began with the prayer before the sermon, without adhān or iqāmah. Then he stood, leaning on Bilāl, and addressed the people. He praised God and extolled Him, and admonished them and reminded them. Then he went on, leaning on Bilāl, and came to the women, and admonished them and reminded them, and said: "Give charity, for most of you are the firewood of Hell." Then a woman from the lowly women, dark-cheeked, stood up and said: "Why, O Messenger of God?" He said: "Because you complain much and are ungrateful to your spouse." So they began to give charity from their rings, their necklaces and their bracelets, handing them to Bilāl to give in charity.
