وَقَدْ أَخْبَرَنَاهُ ) أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَنْبَأَ بَكْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَمْدَانَ الصَّيْرَفِيُّ بِمَرْوَ، ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْقَاضِي، ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ، ثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فَذَكَرَهُ. وَلَا أَحْسِبُهُ إِلَّا وَاهِمًا فِي ذِكْرِ سَمَاعِ مُعَاذٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ هُوَ أَوْ شَيْخُهُ، فَأَمَّا إِسْمَاعِيلُ الْقَاضِي فَهُوَ أَجَلُّ مِنْ ذَاكَ - وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ. )
